Services

Library Collections and Related Services

  • borrow books, DVDs, magazines, games, and audiobooks from The Community Library or any of the 57 libraries that make up the Mohawk Valley Library System and the Southern Adirondack Library System
  • use our Interlibrary Loan services to access books and articles from around the world if you can’t find what you need in our catalog
  • get personalized book and movie recommendations from our library staff
  • let our displays and book lists inspire you to explore something new
  • join the conversation and get reading recommendations at Fan Favorites, our monthly book group for adults, which meets every 1st Friday at 12 noon

Local History Room

  • our Local History Room provides access to printed materials related to local history, Cobleskill High School and Cobleskill-Richmondville High School yearbooks, newspapers, maps, and antiquarian books
  • the items in this collection may not be checked out from the library, but, if requested, may be pulled by a library staff member for patron review and study
  • at present, a library volunteer maintains the local history collections and is available for consultations and assistance on Fridays

Databases and Other Information Resources

  • access the subscription-only resources of the Ancestry databases for genealogy research (available only on library computers)
  • search our collection of Gale Databases for credible sources of news, information, and reference materials on a wide range of topics
  • take advantage of the subscription-only arts and crafts site Creativebug for professional tutorial videos, patterns, and crafting ideas
  • peruse our collection of learning resources provided by government and social service agencies
  • access educational games and learning software for kids on the computers in our children’s room

Programming

  • attend free programs for adults, teens, or kids & families on a wide range of topics
  • drop in with kids at 10:30 am on Wednesdays for our StoryTime sessions for stories, songs, and activities
  • join any of our recurring clubs, including Lego Club, Chess Club, All Ages Craft Buffet, Fuzzy Belly Felting Friends, Short Fiction Workshop, or Adult Gaming Club
  • pick up a paper copy of our monthly calendar of events at the library or visit our online calendar to see what programs are coming up
  • sign up for our free monthly email newsletter listing each month’s events, library news, and a downloadable copy of our events calendar
  • participate in our annual themed Summer Reading Programs and our summer reading challenges

Technology Resources and Services

  • use your library card to use one of our library computers
  • use our self-service copier/scanner. (Black & White copies cost 20 cents each; 50 cents per page for color)
  • use our self-service fax machine to send documents (Faxing costs $1.75 for the first page and $1.00 for each additional page.)
  • print documents by logging into a library computer
  • use our free wifi to access the internet 24/7 from inside or right outside the library building

Spaces

  • relax with a book, magazine, newspaper, or game in our safe, climate-controlled space
  • get some work done at one of our tables and chairs
  • reserve one of our small meeting rooms to work privately or to host a meeting or event
  • attend community meetings, classes, or early voting hosted by other organizations
