Those interested in supporting The Community Library have a range of options available.
- We greatly appreciate direct financial support through donations, memorials, and bequests.
- We accept donations of books and DVDs under certain conditions.
- Patrons may join our active Friends of The Community Library organization to assist with library fundraising and programming.
- We occasionally offer volunteer opportunities related to specific events or needs.
Beyond these ways of supporting the library, patrons can also support us and contribute to our mission in these ways:
- Use library resources. We exist to serve the information, education, and entertainment needs of members of our community. By checking out books and movies, attending programs, using our technology and spaces, and visiting the library, patrons help us communicate our value to patrons, funders, sponsors, and state and local government.
- Contribute to organizations that support and defend libraries. These might include regional organizations such as the Mohawk Valley Library Association or free speech organizations (e.g. the National Coalition Against Censorship, PEN America, the Freedom to Read Foundation, or the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund).
- Support candidates for local, state, and federal political office who commit to funding, defending, promoting, and supporting libraries and free speech.
